不定詞當主詞
- 不定詞為首的主詞, 可用it(假主詞)代替.
(例) To be patient with other is best for you.
It’s best for you to be patient with others. - 句型:
It’s 形容詞(修飾事物) for + 人 to V~
It’s 形容詞(修飾人) of+ 人 to V~
修飾人的形容詞: good, nice, kind, brave, clever, careless, honest, bad, stupid, silly, selfish, polite.
(例) It’s kind of you to help me.
You are kind to help me.
(例) It’s stupid of him to speak ill of others.
He is stupid to speak ill of others.
不定詞當受詞 (放在一般V.之後)
- (例) I like baseball.
I like to play baseball.
I like playing baseball.
(例) I decided to quit work.
(例) He hoped to get(be) there on time. - 有些動詞, 如decide, hope, want, expect, volunteer等, 只能加to, 不能用Ving
(例) I want(would like) to watch a movie with my friends.
(例) You needn’t go if you don’t want to (go). (need可以當V也可以當助動詞) (to後面的動詞和前面相同時, 則動詞可以省略)
不定詞當補語
補語: 接在be動詞或連綴動詞後面的
受詞: 接在一般動詞後的
- 不定詞當主詞補語 => 放在be動詞或連綴動詞之後補充說明
(例) My work is the thing.
My work is to prepare dinner.
(例) My aim in life is to become a famous singer.
(例) To see is to believe.
seeing is believing. - 不定詞當受詞補語 => 即主詞 + 動詞 + 受詞 + 受詞補語
(例) He calls me Johnny.
He wants me to do it.
(例) He told me to quit (give up) smoking.
She got her husband to clean up the house.
(注意) 有些動詞, 如want, would like, ask, teach, tell, get, show等, 用不定詞當受詞補語.
